Interview with Lily Martinez, Owner of Luminescent Candle Co.
Q: Can you tell us how you got started with Luminescent Candle Co.?
A: It all started about 5 years ago, when I was tinkering around with candle-making as a fun hobby. I quickly became passionate about it, and before I knew it, I was giving my creations as gifts to family and friends. I started getting requests for custom orders, and that's when I realized that I could turn my passion into a business.
Q: What are some challenges you faced when starting your own candle shop?
A: One of the biggest challenges was figuring out how to market my products effectively. It's hard to stand out in a crowded market, but I knew that I had something truly unique to offer with my handcrafted candles. It took a lot of trial and error to figure out what worked, but I eventually found success with social media and online advertising. Another challenge was figuring out how to manage my inventory and orders efficiently, which is why I decided to switch to Shopify for my online store.
Q: Can you talk a bit more about your use of Shopify?
A: Shopify has been a game-changer for my business. It allows me to seamlessly manage my online store, track inventory, and fulfill orders. I also love the data and analytics that I get from it, which help me make informed decisions about my business. Plus, the customer support is top-notch.
Q: How has your business grown since you started?
A: It's been an incredible journey. I started out selling my candles at local markets and craft fairs, but now we have a physical storefront in downtown Asheville, North Carolina. We also sell our products on our website, as well as on Etsy and Amazon. It's been amazing to see how much our customer base has grown, and how much people love our handcrafted candles.
Q: What kind of scents and fragrances do you offer?
A: We offer a wide range of scents and fragrances, from fruity and floral to warm and cozy. Some of our most popular scents include vanilla bean, lavender, and pumpkin spice. We also have unique blends that you won't find anywhere else, like our Black Sea and Sandalwood Rose candles.
Q: What do you think sets Luminescent Candle Co. apart from other candle shops?
A: I think what really sets us apart is our commitment to using high-quality, all-natural ingredients in our candles. We also put a lot of love and care into each and every candle we make, which comes through in the final product. Plus, our unique scents and fragrances really help us stand out from the crowd.
Q: Lastly, what advice would you give to someone thinking about starting their own candle shop?
A: My biggest piece of advice would be to follow your passion and stay true to your vision. It won't always be easy, but if you believe in what you're doing and are willing to put in the work, you can succeed. And definitely consider using Shopify – it's been a game-changer for me.
