Interview with Olivia Green, Owner of Jump High Indoor Trampoline Park in Miami, Florida.
1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you got into the trampoline business?
I've always been passionate about fitness and creating fun experiences. So when I discovered trampolining, I knew it was the perfect way to bring those two things together. I started with a trampoline fitness class in my backyard, which quickly grew to multiple classes and eventually led me to open up Jump High Trampoline Park.
2. What were some of the biggest challenges you faced when opening your own business?
Money was definitely tight in the beginning. I had to take out a big loan to secure the lease on our space and purchase equipment. Plus, navigating the legal logistics involved in opening up a business was very challenging for me as a first-time business owner.
3. How did you go about promoting your business initially?
We started off by promoting on social media and reaching out to local schools to offer field trips. We also hosted a few free events to get people in the door and word-of-mouth really helped us spread the word.
4. What led you to choose Shopify as your e-commerce platform?
I wanted a platform that was easy to use, would allow us to easily add and update products, and that integrated with our point-of-sale system. Shopify checked all of those boxes for us.
5. Did you experience any unexpected success with your business?
Yes, definitely! We never expected to become such a popular destination for birthday parties and events. We started off as a trampoline fitness studio, but now we host everything from corporate team building events to baby showers.
6. How do you ensure the safety of your customers while jumping?
Safety is always our top priority. We have strict rules in place and our staff constantly monitors the jumping areas. We also offer safety training to all of our employees and enforce our rules with anyone who is not following them.
7. What advice would you give to someone looking to start their own trampoline park or fitness business?
Be prepared to put in a lot of hard work! Owning your own business is not easy, but it's incredibly rewarding. Also, don't be afraid to take calculated risks to grow your business. For example, creating new fitness classes or adding a new attraction to your trampoline park may help attract new customers and keep things exciting.
