Interview with Jack Morgan, Male Owner of Inked Souls Tattoo Parlor in Portland, Oregon

1. How did you get started in the tattoo industry, Jack?

Shop Stories interview with the owner of a Tattoo Parlor

I got started in the tattoo industry back in 2005 when I was working as an apprentice in a small tattoo parlor in Seattle. I always had a passion for body art and the stories behind them, and after spending a few years learning the trade from some of the best artists in the city, I decided to open my own shop.

2. What challenges did you face when you first opened Inked Souls Tattoo Parlor?

When I first opened Inked Souls Tattoo Parlor, I faced a lot of challenges. One of the biggest challenges was getting the word out and attracting customers. We were a new business in town, and there were already several other well-established tattoo parlors here in Portland. Another challenge was finding talented artists to work with me. It took a while to find the right team, but once I did, things started to fall into place.

3. How did you overcome those challenges?

We overcame those challenges by focusing on quality and building a loyal customer base. We made sure that every tattoo we did was of the highest quality and that every customer had a positive experience at our shop. We also started offering unique designs and styles that set us apart from other tattoo parlors in the area.

4. What unexpected success have you had with your business?

I never expected to have as much success with my business as I have had. One of the most unexpected things that happened was when I started selling our merchandise on Shopify. We had a lot of customers who loved our Tattoo Parlor’s design and wanted to buy our T-shirts, hats and other merchandise even if they did not get a tattoo or body art done. It has become a great source of revenue for us and a way to spread our brand even further.

5. How has Shopify helped your business grow?

Shopify has been a game-changer for us. Being able to sell our merchandise online has allowed us to reach customers all over the world. It has also streamlined our business operations by managing our inventory, processing payments, and shipping orders.

6. What advice would you give to someone who wants to open their own tattoo parlor?

My advice would be to find your niche and focus on quality. There are a lot of tattoo parlors out there, but finding what sets you apart and focusing on providing high-quality tattoos and body art can make all the difference. It's also essential to build a network of talented artists and staff who are passionate about body art and customer service.

7. What's next for Inked Souls Tattoo Parlor?

We are always looking for new ways to grow and expand our business. We are considering opening another location in a nearby city and also want to continue expanding our online merchandise sales. Our ultimate goal is to become a recognized brand in the Tattoo industry and be known for quality and innovation!
