Interview with Emma Rodriguez, Owner of "Siren's Cove", a Themed Restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina

Q: Can you tell us a little about how you got started with Siren's Cove?

Shop Stories interview with the owner of a Themed Restaurant

A: Siren's Cove began just as a random idea I had while working in the food industry. I've always been a fan of immersive experiences, and I wanted to bring that into the restaurant space. It started as just a concept, but through a lot of hard work and dedication, it eventually became a reality.

Q: What were some of the biggest challenges you faced when starting the business?

A: One of the main challenges was finding a location that was suitable for our vision. We wanted a space that was secluded and somewhat hidden, but still easily accessible to the public. Additionally, the overhead costs for the unique decor and set-up was a significant investment.

Q: How did you manage to overcome these challenges?

A: I did exhaustive research on the local market and demographics to find the perfect location for our restaurant. We also got creative with sourcing our decorations and furniture, finding unique and sometimes re-purposed items to decorate our space. And most importantly, we continuously listened to our customers and made changes to better accommodate their needs.

Q: What role has technology played in your business success?

A: Technology has been integral to our success. Shopify has been a game changer in allowing us to easily manage and track our inventory, collect payments, and handle online orders. Without the ease and efficiency of Shopify, we would not have been able to grow as quickly and efficiently as we did.

Q: Can you tell us a specific story of a customer experience that made you realize your business had unexpected success?

A: There was one customer who came in with their partner looking for a unique dining experience. They had heard about us through word of mouth and decided to give us a try. They left beyond impressed, and the next weekend, they brought their entire family, who left equally thrilled with their experience. Seeing how our restaurant was not only recommended but enjoyed by a growing number of people let me know we were on the right path.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own themed restaurant?

A: My advice would be to always stay true to your concept and remain adaptable to change. Listen to your customers and anticipate their needs. And finally, find a team that is just as passionate about your vision as you are.

Q: What's next for Siren's Cove?

A: We're currently working on expanding our online presence and merchandise offerings. We're also constantly updating and improving our menu and decor to keep our customers coming back for more.
