Interviewer: Good afternoon, everyone. Today, we have the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Cameron Foster, the owner of Foster Brewing Company, located in beautiful Portland, Oregon. Cameron, thank you so much for joining us today.
Cameron: Thank you for having me!
Interviewer: Let's start at the beginning – how did you get started in the brewery business?
Cameron: Well, I've always been a beer enthusiast, and I started brewing my own beer at home as a hobby. Eventually, I decided that I wanted to start my own brewery, and I jumped in headfirst. It wasn't easy, but it was definitely worth it.
Interviewer: What were some of the biggest challenges you faced when starting Foster Brewing Company?
Cameron: One of the biggest challenges was finding a space to brew our beer. We needed a location that was big enough to house all of our equipment, but we also wanted a location that was easily accessible for our customers. We also had to deal with a lot of red tape when it came to getting permits and licenses. It was a long and frustrating process, but we eventually got everything sorted out.
Interviewer: How did you initially get the word out about your brewery?
Cameron: We relied heavily on social media and word of mouth. We knew that we needed to get our name out there, so we started doing tastings at local events and festivals. We also made sure that we had a strong online presence. We started using Shopify to manage our online store, and that really helped us to reach new customers.
Interviewer: Can you talk a little more about how Shopify has helped your business?
Cameron: Shopify has been an absolute game-changer for us. We're able to manage our online store, track inventory, and process payments all in one place. It's also allowed us to reach customers outside of our immediate area. We've even had people from other states order our beer online!
Interviewer: That's fantastic. And how has Foster Brewing Company evolved since you first opened?
Cameron: We've definitely grown a lot since we first opened our doors. We started out with just a few types of beer, but now we have a wide variety of brews to choose from. We've also expanded our operations to include brewery tours and private events. It's been a wild ride, but we couldn't be happier with how things have turned out.
Interviewer: To wrap up, what advice would you give to someone who's looking to start their own brewery?
Cameron: I would say that you need to be passionate about what you're doing. You're going to face a lot of challenges, but if you're truly passionate about your beer and your business, then you'll find a way to overcome them. I would also recommend getting involved in your local beer community – attend events, meet other brewers, and ask for advice. It's a welcoming community that's always eager to help out.
Interviewer: Thank you so much for chatting with us today, Cameron. It was a pleasure to hear your story.
Cameron: Thank you! It was great to be here.
