Interview with Amelia Johnson, Owner of Pawsitively Perfect Pet Store in Austin, Texas
1. How did you get started in the pet store business?
I've always been an animal lover, and after years of working in the corporate world, I decided to pursue my passion. I started volunteering at local animal shelters and realized how much I loved helping pets find their forever homes. That's when I decided to open Pawsitively Perfect Pet Store.
2. What are some of the biggest challenges you've faced since opening your store?

When I first opened, my vision was to create a one-stop-shop for pet owners, where they could find everything they needed to take care of their pets. As the store grew, I realized that I also wanted to become a resource for the community, providing education and support for pet owners. We now host adoption events and work with local animal shelters to help pets find homes.
5. Can you tell us about a particularly memorable success story?
One of our customers came in looking for a specific type of food for their cat with digestive issues. We recommended a new brand that we had just started carrying, and they came back a few weeks later to tell us that their cat's health had improved dramatically. That's what it's all about- helping pets and the people who love them.
6. What sets your store apart from other pet stores?
We offer a curated selection of high-quality and unique products that are often hard to find elsewhere. We also prioritize education and community involvement. And of course, using Shopify has helped us streamline our business and provide a seamless shopping experience for our customers.
7. What are your future plans for the store?
We want to continue to grow and expand our product offerings, while also strengthening our relationships with local animal shelters and rescues. We also plan to invest in more digital marketing to reach a wider audience of pet owners. Ultimately, our goal is to be the go-to resource for pet owners in Austin and beyond.
