Interview with Emily Jones, Owner of "The Pill Box" Pharmacy in Austin, Texas
Q: Can you start by telling us a little about yourself and how you got into the pharmacy business?
A: Certainly, my name is Emily Jones and I've always had a passion for healthcare. After completing my degree in pharmacy, I worked for several chain pharmacies but found myself wanting to provide a more personalized service to my patients. So, I decided to open my own pharmacy, "The Pill Box", in Austin, Texas.
Q: What were some of the biggest challenges you faced when you first started your own business?
A: The biggest challenge by far was competing against larger chain pharmacies. They have huge advertising budgets and can offer steep discounts on prescriptions. It was difficult for me to compete with that. Additionally, the overhead costs of starting my own business were enormous. But, I knew that if I could offer a more personalized and friendly experience for patients, that would be something they would value highly.
Q: How did you overcome those challenges and build a loyal customer base?
A: I relied heavily on word of mouth advertising and building relationships with my patients. When someone comes to my pharmacy, I make sure to take the time to really listen to their concerns and offer personalized advice. This has led to countless positive online reviews and referrals from satisfied customers. I also decided to invest in a Shopify store for my business, which has allowed me to offer online ordering and delivery options to customers who can't make it into the store.
Q: Can you tell us more about how Shopify has helped your business grow?
A: Shopify has been a game changer for my business. It has allowed us to offer a more convenient service to our customers. Especially during the pandemic, when many people were hesitant to leave their homes, our online ordering and delivery options were a lifesaver. We've also been able to attract customers from further afield who may not have known about our pharmacy otherwise.
Q: What advice do you have for aspiring pharmacy owners?
A: My advice would be to stay true to who you are and what you believe in. Develop a niche that sets you apart from the chains, and invest in building relationships with your patients. Also, don't underestimate the importance of having an online presence. In today's world, convenience is key.
Q: What does the future hold for "The Pill Box"?
A: I'm excited to continue expanding our online offerings and providing the best possible service to our customers. We have some exciting new products that we'll be offering soon, so keep an eye on our Shopify store!
