Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Ms. Ava Torres, the female owner of Stellar Skies, an astronomy store located in the heart of Asheville, North Carolina. Ms. Torres has built her business from scratch and now has a thriving store that sells telescopes, stargazing equipment, and books. 1. How did you get started in the astronomy business?

I have always had a passion for the stars and the secrets they hold. I started off as an amateur astronomer, and my love for the hobby led me to start Stellar Skies. I wanted to share my passion with others and create a haven for people like me who were fascinated by the cosmos.

2. What were some initial challenges you faced when starting your business?

Finding the perfect location to set up shop was a challenge. I wanted a location that had good foot traffic and was convenient to reach. Also, finding the right suppliers to stock up the store with quality astronomy equipment was difficult.

3. How did you overcome these challenges?

I did a lot of research on potential locations that had good foot traffic, but wasn't too expensive. Once I found the right location, I invested time and effort into creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere that would appeal to our customers. As for suppliers, I spent a lot of time studying the industry and following astronomy news and events. This helped me identify the best suppliers in the industry and form strong partnerships with them, eventually giving Stellar Skies the best equipment available on the market.

4. When did you first start using Shopify, and how has it impacted your business?

I started using Shopify three years ago, and it has been a game-changer for Stellar Skies. It has simplified our sales process, making transactions more seamless for both the business and our customers. Shopify has also helped me create an easy-to-use online storefront, which has helped us expand our reach beyond the local community.

5. How did Shopify help you expand beyond the local community?

The Shopify platform provided us with a global reach that I never thought possible. Customers from different parts of the world were able to purchase our products and have them delivered right to their doorstep. This helped us grow our customer base exponentially, and till date, we have never looked back.

6. What would be your advice to aspiring small business owners?

Starting a small business is no easy feat, but with patience and persistence, anything is achievable. Make sure you are passionate about what you do and be open to taking risks. Also, success comes from providing excellent customer service and being able to adapt to changes in the industry.

7. And finally, what’s next for Stellar Skies?

We are always looking for ways to improve our service and making our products more accessible. Our next phase involves exploring new and innovative ways of bringing the stars closer to our customers.
