Interview with Samantha Rodriguez, Owner of Rodriguez Leather Crafting Shop in Austin, Texas

1. Can you tell us a little bit about how Rodriguez Leather Crafting Shop got started?

My love for leather craftsmanship started when I was a child and my grandfather taught me how to create small leather trinkets. Over time, I developed a passion for it and decided to open up my own leather crafting shop in downtown Austin. I started small, just selling a few products but soon added workshops for people interested in learning the craft themselves.

2. What challenges did you face when starting your business?

One of the biggest challenges I faced in the beginning was getting my name out there. I started with just a physical storefront, but soon realized that I needed to have an online presence in order to reach more customers. This led me to create a website, but it was difficult to manage the inventory and track customer orders.

3. How did you overcome those challenges?

I ended up using Shopify as my e-commerce platform, which made managing my online store so much easier. It helped me keep track of inventory and streamline the ordering process for my customers.

4. What sets your leather products apart from others on the market?

All of our products are handcrafted with high-quality leather, so they're built to last. We also offer a variety of customization options, so customers can create something truly unique that suits their individual style.

5. What do you love most about your business?

I love seeing the joy on customers' faces when they see their finished products and hearing about their experience in our workshops. It's really fulfilling to be able to share my passion with others and help them create something beautiful.

6. What has been your most unexpected success with Rodriguez Leather Crafting Shop?

Definitely our online store! I never thought we'd have such a strong online following, but Shopify has made it possible for us to reach customers all over the country.

7. What advice do you have for someone who wants to start their own leather crafting business?

Start small and don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Also, make sure you have a solid e-commerce strategy in place, whether it's through a platform like Shopify or something else. Having a strong online presence can make all the difference in the success of your business.
